Reflections From One Month on the Road
This past month has been a momentous one for us.
It has been a culmination of all sorts of dreams. We officially hit the road mid-June and now we sit one month into our travels, getting into a brand new groove that we’ve been excited about for awhile now. We’re feeling a new found sense of freedom and adventure, realizing that both are at our finger tips each and every moment of the day.
We’ve been making the most out of every day and getting creative with our time. With each day that passes we feel more and more prepared for what’s to come and our ability to adapt to new circumstances. It’s a beautiful balance of excitement for the future while being grateful for right where our feet are in this very moment.
After starting our month in The Great Smokey Mtns and Shenandoah Nat’l Park, we drove north and realized that we were driving away from what’s been local for us for the past few years.
We got to explore upstate New York with a few invitations from clients in that area. With two shoots near the Adirondacks, it was the ideal time to experience the mountains there. It’s been fun for us to connect with locals to get the best tips and advice for where to go and what to see. The more we do this, the more we’re finding great rewards.
This month we’re staying on the east coast, still only exploring regions that we’ve both lived near. We’re relishing in the cool northern summer and Cass is feeling the familiarity of New England and who she was in these places. It’s been a fruitful invitation to look back and appreciate where we have come from knowing that it’s prepared us perfectly for what’s to come.
We’re on the precipice of seeing a brand new territory and unknown lands as we head west in a week’s time. There are still so many unknowns and we don’t know exactly where this road will lead or who exactly we’ll become along the way. Looking back at the dreams we had for this trip, we see that’s the reason why we started in the first place.
One thing’s for sure, we know we have our ship pointed in the right direction.
